Courses


The AlterEurope Master's degree is in the field of European and international studies (areas of Humanities and social sciences and law, economics and management).

Location


Most of classes will take place in Saint-Etienne, at the Department of Political and Territorial Studies (DEPT) of the Université Jean Monnet (Tréfilerie university site).
Some courses will take place in Lyon (ENS de Lyon or Sciences Po Lyon). In the first year of the Master’s degree, the classes of the geography major take place entirely at the ENSL.

Travel expenses are not paid by the university.

The program is conducted in French (80%) and English (20%).


Overall Structure


1st semester
AlterEurope fundamental knowledge
+
4 majors
Law/Management Economics/Geography/Political Science 

2nd semester
Core curriculum
(including a study trip at the beginning of the semester)
+
Optional coursework
+
Internship
2 to 4 months (May-June,etc...)
or Master's dissertation

At the end of the first year students can validate the AlterEurope M1. Students enrolled at Sciences Po Lyon can simultaneously validate the 4th year of IEP.

3rd semester
Core curriculum
+
Optional coursework according to the following 3 profession-based options:  research, project management and monitoring

4th semester
End-of-studies internship
4 to 6 months and internship report (March-June,etc...)
Or Research Dissertation

At the end of the first year students can validate the AlterEurope M2. Students enrolled at Sciences Po Lyon can simultaneously validate the 5th year of IEP.

*International mobility in an European neighbouring country highly recommended for one of two internships.
