The AlterEurope Master’s Degree is offered by Université Jean Monnet de Saint Etienne, ENS de Lyon and Sciences Po Lyon, members of Université de Lyon. Each of these institutions has its own registration procedure and application calendar.

It is possible to apply for the 2nd year of the AlterEurope Master’s Degree on an exceptional basis, considering a selection by an interdisciplinary education committee.

Applications to ENSL

ENS de Lyon welcomes in AlterEurope Master’s degree primarily students with a bachelor's degree in humanities and social sciences in initial training.
  • For the international students who live in one of the 37 countries of the Campus France agreement, application shall be done through the CEF procedure. Applications made directly to ENSL will not be considered.
  • For the international students from the European Union or who do not live in one of the 37 countries of the Campus France agreement (CEF procedure), please read the procedure here.
  • For students from a French university or a preparatory class for the Grandes Ecoles (CPGE) who earned 180 ECTS at a university: application on the ENS website through the CADENS procedure. The procedure is explained here.
  • The trainee and extern students of the ENSL must directly contact the AlterEurope coordinator for the ENSL (

Applications to Sciences Po Lyon (double degree : Sciences Po Lyon and AlterEurope Master’s degree)

  • French and international students: The entrance test at IEP Lyon 4th year is for students with a Bac +3 level; it is open to all students, with different modalities for French and international students: here.
  • Students of preparatory classes eligible or sub-eligible for ENS, Ecole des Chartes,  EM Lyon, or civic service: Specific admission procedures are organized. See here.
